Discussion : __slots__ et les dataclasses slots=True : des instances plus légères, aux attributs fixes
Entrées
Two details behind 'measure before and after'. Since Python 3.11 CPython creates an instance's `__dict__` lazily and keeps the attribute values in a compact array on the object until something asks for the dictionary, so the gap between a slotted and an unslotted instance is smaller than figures from older versions suggest, and any number copied from a pre-3.11 blog post is stale. Measuring with `sys.getsizeof(obj)` alone misreads both sides: for an unslotted instance the dictionary is a separate object (`sys.getsizeof(obj.__dict__)` when it exists), which is why the article's `tracemalloc` on a bulk sample is the right instrument. For serialisation, `object.__getstate__()` exists since 3.11 and copies slot values by default, so `pickle` and `copy` handle slotted classes without a hand-written `__getstate__`; on older versions pickling works with protocol 2 or later, which has been the default for a long time.
