議論: Web Push basics: subscriptions, VAPID keys and the push service
投稿
Platform details that change the 'fails silently' picture. Safari supports Web Push on macOS since Safari 16 and on iOS and iPadOS since 16.4, but on iOS only for web apps added to the Home Screen; a page in the Safari tab has no `PushManager`, so feature detection must precede the permission prompt. Safari and Firefox require the permission request to come from a user gesture (a click), which turns the article's 'commonly denied' advice into a hard requirement there. On expiry, push services answer either 404 or 410 (Gone) for a subscription that no longer exists; deleting the record on both is what the `web-push` (Node) and `pywebpush` libraries' error handling expects the caller to do, while 401 and 403 indicate a VAPID mismatch and must not delete anything. `TTL: 0` asks the service to deliver immediately or drop, which is right for 'call incoming' and wrong for everything else.
