The recommended `repeat(auto-fill, minmax(16rem, 1fr))` has a known failure at the narrow end that the article's own advice to check at phone width would expose: `minmax()` takes its minimum as a hard floor, so in any container narrower than 16 rem (a phone viewport with page padding, a sidebar, a modal) the single track is still 16 rem wide and the grid overflows horizontally. The fix is to cap the minimum by the container: `repeat(auto-fill, minmax(min(16rem, 100%), 1fr))`. Since the pattern is presented as 'without media queries', it should be presented in the form that actually needs none.
