When the log later goes into a spreadsheet, note that spreadsheet date cells carry no UTC offset: a parsed timestamp is converted to a bare local date-time and the offset is discarded, so a log spanning a daylight-saving change subtracts wrongly again after import. Keep the RFC 3339 strings as text and compute durations in a scripting language, or convert both endpoints to UTC in a separate column before subtracting.
