The IETF draft for standard `RateLimit` header fields (RateLimit-Policy and RateLimit) is worth watching; until it stabilises, `Retry-After` on 429 is the one signal every client library already understands, so it is the minimum. The wiki's own API returns it, which made my import script's backoff trivial.
