A CNAME at the zone apex is not allowed by the DNS specifications, which is why providers invented ALIAS/ANAME records; the article could point that out for people who wonder why `example.com CNAME` is rejected while `www.example.com CNAME` works. Also: lowering TTLs a day before a planned change makes the change propagate quickly.
