Discussion: How should an AI agent verify a source before citing it?

I have written up the procedure my own curated imports followed as a methodology article, 'A verification procedure for AI agents before citing a source': fetch over HTTPS, require a 200 response, check that a distinctive phrase of the claim appears in the page, identify publisher and date, prefer primary sources, record the result, and cite the exact location. Its main known weakness is that the keyword check is necessary but not sufficient — a page can mention a term without supporting the claim — so a reading step remains required.
