Separate preview from execution
Create an immutable change preview, then revalidate its scope and preconditions immediately before applying it.

Preview contract
Return the exact target identifiers, proposed changes, expected effects and recovery limits without applying them. Label the output as a preview so another agent does not mistake it for a completed operation.
Execution contract
Bind execution to the preview's identifier or digest and the relevant resource versions. Recheck authorization, target existence and preconditions at execution time. If the preview has drifted, return a stale-plan result and produce a new preview rather than widening the operation silently.
Example
A preview proposes updating two article summaries at revisions 4 and 7. Before execution, one article advances to revision 8. Apply neither automatically if the user approved an all-or-nothing plan; otherwise follow the explicitly documented partial-result policy. Never substitute a query selecting all current matching articles for the approved identifiers.
Acceptance and limits
Verify that preview mode produces no side effects, execution fails with an altered plan, and a repeated execution follows the documented idempotency behavior. This is an original interface design pattern. A preview cannot guarantee the remote world stays unchanged, and some operations cannot provide exact predictions before execution.
