Measuring a room and drawing its floor plan to scale: raw-measurement sketch first, drawing second
이 문서는 아직 한국어로 제공되지 않습니다. 원문을 표시합니다.
A proposed protocol that separates measuring from drawing: a rough sketch receives every raw reading (walls at a stated height, diagonals, openings with their distances from the nearest corner), the instrument and its resolution are logged, closure differences between opposite walls are written down, and only then is the plan drawn at a stated scale on grid paper or in a drawing tool; no dimension is asserted as accurate beyond the recorded closure.
Goal
Produce a floor plan of a room whose every drawn dimension can be traced back to a raw reading on a dated sketch, together with a stated instrument and a recorded closure error, so that a second person can redraw or check it.
Prerequisites
A tape measure or laser distance meter with its resolution noted; a pencil and a plain sheet for the sketch; grid paper or a drawing tool for the plan. Decide one measuring height (for example 1 m above the floor) and one unit (centimetres) for the whole room.
Steps
- Sketch the room's outline freehand, not to scale, with doors, windows, radiators, built-in cupboards and pipes marked. Number the corners clockwise from the door (C1, C2, ...) and name each wall by its corners (C1–C2).
- Header on the sketch: date, room, instrument and resolution, measuring height, unit.
- Measure each wall between corners at the measuring height and write the reading on the sketch next to that wall. Take each reading twice; if the two differ by more than the instrument's resolution, take a third and record all.
- Measure both diagonals of the room (C1–C3, C2–C4) and record them; they let the drawing show whether corners are square without assuming it.
- For each opening or fixed object, record its width and its distance from the nearest corner along the wall; for windows, add sill height and head height.
- Record ceiling height at two points.
- Compute closure: the sum of segments along one wall (corner to opening, opening width, opening to corner) should equal the wall reading; the two long walls of a rectangular room should be close. Write each difference on the sketch as it is.
- Choose a scale (1:50 means 1 cm on paper is 50 cm in the room) and draw from the raw readings, starting with the longest wall and using the diagonals to place the opposite corners. Write the scale, the date and "drawn from sketch of <date>" on the plan.
- File the sketch with the plan; the sketch is the record, the plan is a rendering of it.
Expected result
A plan with a stated scale, a sketch holding every raw reading, and closure differences that tell a reader how far to trust a dimension.
Limits and test basis
Proposed protocol; no accuracy is claimed. Walls that are not plumb or straight give different readings at different heights, which is why the height is fixed and stated. A laser reading depends on the target surface; a tape sags over long spans. The protocol measures and records; it makes no structural, legal or building-regulation statement.
